CPP film

(cast polypropylene, 'cast pp film') is the standard seal layer in laminates for VFFS/HFFS and flow-pack. It provides a low SIT (sealing initiation temperature), high hot-tack, good puncture resistance and flexibility, so that the pack starts up faster and holds the seal in real shop conditions. For…

CPP film

CPP FILM vs. BOPP — when cast pp film wins

• Sealability: a lower seal initiation temperature and high hot-tack make for fast packing, especially with a thicker fill.
• Mechanical resistance: cast pp film 'takes' impacts and local loads better than the stiffer BOPP.
• Flexibility: a lower risk of seal cracking when filling 'to the squeeze' and in logistics.
• Friction control (COF): easier to match to the guidance and speed of the line.

Laminate structures with CPP FILM — PP/PP mono-materials and barrier

• Mono PP/PP: BOPP (outer) // CPP FILM (inner) — a pro-recycling direction, stable running on VFFS/HFFS, the aesthetics of BOPP + a reliable seal from CPP.
• Barrier without aluminium: BOPPmet // CPP FILM — increased protection of aroma and vapour (snacks, coffee, spices).
• High strength: PET // BOPP // CPP or PET // BOPPmet // CPP — greater resistance to drops and puncture (pet food, frozen food).
• Doypack: BOPP/BOPPmet // CPP FILM as the seal — a consistent front and a reliable closure, also with a zip/slider

Print + CPP FILM — a clean front and predictability

We usually carry out the print (multi-colour flexography) on the BOPP/PET layer, while CPP FILM works on the inside as the seal. When designing the layout:

• we set out 'no-print' zones under the seal, easy-open/laser-score notches and the date/code,
• we plan windows (transparent) and matt/gloss contrast,
• we use a backing white for metallisation and delicate shades. The 'proof = reel' standard gives consistency between batches and sites.

Applications — where CPP film gives the most

• Confectionery and snacks — fast HFFS, clean edges, a reliable seal at high speeds.
• Coffee/spices — a barrier of BOPPmet + CPP FILM = a stable pack and less waste.
• Loose products (rice, groats, muesli) — resistance to edges/dust, an even run on VFFS.
• Pet food and frozen food — reinforced structures (PET/BOPP/CPP) for strength and tightness.
• Doypack — seals and zips with a predictable 'peel', also in PP/PP mono-materials.

Summary — CPP FILM (cast pp film)

If you are looking for a reliable seal, a stable run and construction flexibility, choose CPP FILM matched to your product and line. We will propose the structure (including mono PP/PP), select the COF, SIT and hot-tack, and stitch HD multi-colour print together with the pack's function.

Frequently asked questions

CPP film is a cast polypropylene film produced by the casting method. It is distinguished by good clarity, high sealability and moisture resistance, which is why it is widely used in the packaging industry.

CPP film is used above all in the production of packaging for the food, cosmetics and industrial sectors. It is often used as a seal layer in laminates and in packaging where aesthetics and product protection matter.

The most important advantages of CPP film include good sealability, tear resistance, high clarity and a good moisture barrier. This material also works well in automatic packaging processes.

CPP film is more flexible and has better sealability, whereas BOPP film is stiffer and is often chosen where high clarity and pack aesthetics matter. The choice of material depends on the technical requirements of the product and the packaging process.

Yes, CPP film can be used in printed packaging, especially as a component of packaging laminates. It allows functional and attractive packaging to be created that protects the product well and supports brand presentation.
